Farm Journal- September

We have been experimenting with pumpkins in our home garden and have decided to turn part of our wildflower meadow, on the south side of the blueberry field, into a pumpkin patch for next fall.
We have been very pleased with the varieties we've planted. Their season is long but with drip irrigation, even during a hot and humid summer like this has been, they flourish.
We will start small and see how it goes. It should be fun to have a pick your own pumpkin patch alongside the blueberries. We will be tilling the field soon and will keep you posted.
And we do plan to leave plenty of wildflowers for the birds, bees, and butterflies.
UPDATE: AS OF OCTOBER WE HAVE DECIDED TO POSTPONE THE PUMPKIN PATCH FOR THE INDEFINITE FUTURE.
