Farm Journal ~ November
Picture
It is a slow burn out in the field, the blueberry plants changing color from top to bottom. Once done setting their spring buds, they will lose their leaves and begin to enter their dormancy.

We will be mulching the rows this month in preparation for the cold days and nights ahead.

We are still at work eliminating the bittersweet that had crept in, entwining itself around the branches. It arrived with the mulch last year and we will have to keep an eye out for it next year.

It is calming and restorative to walk the rows with the dogs on these fine fall days. The change in color on the blueberry plants, like the change in light and temperature, is slow and sure and follows nature's clock.

The blueberries, like the birds and woodland creatures, remind us to do the same. And then, that all is well.

RIP dearest Ellie. We will miss you terribly. Thank you for gracing our lives and our farm.
