Farm Journal- April
There is a distinctive change in color on the blueberry plants. The winter crimson has faded and spring's pale orange predominates. This is a sign that the plants are no longer dormant as sap begins to rise into the branches. This re-awakening heralds the change that will transform our plants all this month.
We are behind in our pruning already due to the wintry weather we have been experiencing since March. The plants have held up well through the Arctic cold and nearly hurricane force winds.
We are always impatient to get out into the field in early spring but we aren't worried, yet. We'll catch up.
