Farm Journal- June
Picture
June is an exuberant month with new life teeming on every square inch of the farm. Our pruning done, and other spring tasks firmly in hand, it is time to simply watch over the little green berries forming beneath last month's flowers. Though there are still flowers, of course, and fresh ones in the meadow, to keep the bees happily occupied. The evolution from blossom to berry takes time, as does coloration from green to blue. The right ingredients are all here- abundant sunshine and water, good soil, open space, pruners and pollinators.

As we enter these early days of summer, bird song is ever present and fragrant flowers scent the air.
If it were not for the tree pollen! But the trees must pollinate somehow and we would never deny them that instinct. By mid-month they'll be done. There is so much to look forward to with warm summer days and July's blueberries ahead.
