Farm Journal- May

Picture
Not only are there leaves but buds as well. April was an extraordinary month.

The blueberry bushes saw a sure and steady evolution from dormancy into spring growth in a way that we haven't seen in several seasons. Such a measured, consistent opening is something we always hope for but rarely get with the Cape's often erratic weather.

We are often pruning long into June- amid flowers and buzzing bees- but this year we can say that pruning is nearly complete. And there have been no signs of winter moths. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

The farm has lost another dear friend-
our lives are blessed for having known her.
