Farm Journal ~ October
Most of the blueberry plants have lost their leaves quite early this year. It has been a tough one for them. But many still hold on and just a touch of color change can be seen as they move toward dormancy.
For the next two months, we will focus our attention on the healthiest plants, weeding and mulching, even watering if necessary. They give us hope.
As we walked the field today, milkweed seeds floated past on the wind, purple asters surprised us among the gray-green mugwort, and the stands of wild grasses sparkled in the fall light. Nestled along the wood line, juniper berries were turning blue and there were deer tracks in the soft earth.
