Farm Journal- Sept
September is a quiet and beautiful month at the farm. All the nets are down and the bushes are open to the sky once more. Birds dart to and fro in search of insects rather than berries and Monarch butterflies still abound. Crickets chirp in a steady peaceful chorus in the long grass.
We continue to irrigate and fertilize the blueberry plants, though this is not the time to prune. As autumn unfolds we will lay down mulch and plant winter grass among the rows. Before long the deep green leaves will turn color but for now they hold onto the last of summer's color.
