Farm Journal ~ June
If you look closely you can see berries forming beneath the blossoms. Our Bumblebees have been very busy pollinating all the flowers since mid-May and all the blossoms will soon be gone. It looks to be a good crop of blueberries on its way.
Field news: We did intensive pruning this spring to make up for last year. There may be fewer berries but they will be plumper and more delicious. The plants look healthy. We did not experience any Winter Moth damage and are amazed at all the new growth coming up. The weather has been pretty ideal for them.
Field sightings: the usual spring migrants and residents in the avian family (as listed in Our Book), deer, rabbits, way too many ticks.
As you may have read on our Home page, we are happy to say that we are planning to open this summer. We're sure this will make a lot of people happy.
All we can do now is await the ripening.
