Farm Journal- October
Fall colors are taking precedence among the grasses but there is only subtle change among the rows of blueberries. The leaves are burnished with that cast of red now that will prevail by month's end.
Between the rows we have finished tilling where the winter grass will be planted. The nets are rolled and secured for winter winds and the last of the weeding done. We will irrigate again if the rain is as spare as last month.
There are still some swallows and turkeys but no geese yet. The real drama is between the crows and the red-tail hawks who quarrel over this domain. All else is quiet as fall settles in. A beautiful sight.
