Farm Journal ~ August
It looks more like early September than August out in the field. There may not be any blueberries in sight but there are plenty of wildflowers and field grass. The milkweed is very prolific this year and we have seen a return of many stands of Queen Ann's Lace. The subtle palette of these welcome plants is brightened with colorful Goldenrod, Knapweed, Black-eyed Susan, and Butterfly Weed.
Nevertheless, amid all this quiet beauty, we have our work cut out for us this fall eliminating the weeds which have taken advantage of things. Most will die off of their own accord however, they will not be given the chance to re-wild the field after their own kind...not yet at least.

We visited The Blueberry Bog in East Sandwich this month. We highly recommend a visit yourselves, a beautiful spot with well maintained plants and incredibly nice owners. theblueberrybog.com
