Farm Journal- February
February, like Candlemas that begins it (Groundhog Day its popular version), is that mid-way time between the winter solstice and spring equinox. We pause and reflect and remind ourselves that there are only 6 weeks until spring, more or less. That is an exciting thought! But we better get moving on our winter projects and get them done too.
The shadows cast by our netting posts certainly point to more wintry days ahead. It is not only the presence of his shadow that scares Phil back into his burrow but it elongated size, all due to the angle of the sun which doesn't change much one February to another. If the sun hadn't been out and he hadn't seen a shadow at all the snow would have sent him scurrying anyway. Our groundhogs, unfortunately, have all gone the way of coyotes, whose tracks we follow through the 20 inch drifts.

Photographic Exhibit~ April
There will be an exhibit of our photographs of the farm at the Brewster Ladies' Library for the month of April. Please stop by if you can. The opening reception will be on Saturday April 4th from 2-4 with blueberry treats, music, and our master pruners on hand. Steve will be there to answer questions about farming on Cape Cod.
This will be our first exhibit and we are busy planning, printing, and framing. The theme is the blueberry farm in four seasons. We hope to be able to share our love of the farm and give you a glimpses of its rhythms throughout the year, as we try to do here on our website. Seeing our collection mounted within a windowed circle- the library's beautiful auditorium/gallery space- should be humbling. We are so grateful for the opportunity.
Join us in celebrating the return of spring and our own Hokum Rock Blueberry Farm!
