Appearances are deceiving. It might look as if there are a lot of blueberries in the field but these are the late bloomers in the lower quadrant and they have never sweetened. They are as small and tart as their wild cousins. Still, some invited family and friends have scavenged among them. It is a feast for the eyes only, but perhaps for the birds and deer and rabbits out in the rows.
We are as saddened as the rest of you about this season. We hope things will be better next year. In the meantime, we are going to seek out some volunteers to do some aggressive weeding come fall, if anyone is interested...
