Farm Journal ~ September
We have been enjoying weeks of fine weather now but all the plants, except for invasive weeds apparently, have been feeling the effect of the drought. Nevertheless, the field is an array of fall color- primarily Goldenrod, Milkweed, Queen Anne's Lace, and the fragrant Mugwort. And the resident Bees are still gathering their pollen.
There is work to be done preparing the blueberry plants for their upcoming dormancy. We are hopeful that enough of the hardier plants will set their buds in the next couple of months. We plan on assisting their progress with our weeding, watering, if necessary, and gathering their mulch.
Out among the plants, so many birds, of every size, and shape, and color, have been kept busy raising their young broods and there have been several sightings of a White-tailed Deer and her two fawns, a Red Fox, Turkeys, Coyotes, and a Box Turtle. We wish them all well.

Meanwhile, the work continues out in the field and in the woods even the wild blueberries are taking on their fall colors.
