Farm Journal- Late August
Although the farm is now closed for the season, work continues. The nets will need some sewing before we roll them up for the winter, a tedious but essential chore. Until we finish, we do leave the "doorways" open for the birds even if berries are few and far between. Weeding, of course, will take us into September.
It was a great crop this year. The season may have seemed short but the same amount of pints were picked overall, just by more patrons.
We do not know what effect the Asian Fruit Fly will have next year- for now our plan is to proceed as we always do. (See Farm Journal- August for more details.)
