Farm Journal~ November
Honestly, November is our least favorite month at the farm, with the exception of snowless Januarys.
Yet, it is always with amazement that we witness the transition of New England seasons. We marvel that the leaves which gave each of our blueberry plants their life this year seem to follow their own invisible time clock. The change can be gradual or sudden. Each year is a little different but only by degree. So far 2024 has been an autumn of slow steady progress, with a movement of color sweeping across the field- burgundy and gold, orange, yellow, red, brown, beautifully rich earth tones where once there was only green. As each leaf falls it is always a little sad to see them go. The bare branches that remain may appear less than alive but they are only sleeping.
